Emerald is built upon an elevated style of Maofeng (“hairy peak”- in reference to the many downy buds that pervade this tea), produced in Guangxi with a traditional Da Ye (“big leaf”) cultivar. Our Long Kou maofeng comes directly from a semi-wild tea garden, and its twisted, twiggy appearance is a Guangxi novelty. Happily, because Da Ye cultivars tend to have such large leaves, this finished tea possesses a rare, enhanced flavor complexity and durability in the cup.
